It's an on-going process of refinement, as we grow and expand alongside customers who push at the boundaries of their respective technologies.

We offer a total in-house design and manufacturing service from initial consultancy, evaluation and prototyping, through to tooling, electroplating, stamping, moulding, precision turning, auto-assembly and packaging.

Harwin can meet virtually any interconnection challenge through:

  • Our extensive range of standard connectors and components, including ultra-fine 0.5mm pitch to 2.5mm pitch PCB connectors and plastic and metal hardware.
  • Application-specific connectors, custom-designed/adapted and manufactured to meet the most precise specifications and project demands
  • Total solutions for the world's most demanding markets including military and aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, telecoms, medical, test and measurement, and more

Our Capabilities

Harwin Technical Capabilities

Technical Expertise

Harwin's technical expertise and total in-house manufacturing capability enable us to provide the highest quality products and allow us to respond to customer's individual needs quickly and efficiently.

Commitment to manufacturing

We are constantly investing in the latest technologies, such as high speed stamping, to give your products the edge in an increasingly competitive world.

For detailed explanations of our manufacturing capabilities, use the menu above.

Harwin Moulding Capabilities

Moulding

CAD/CAM and CNC equipment enable us to build quality mould tools for high performance production with interchangeable, close tolerance components, whether from single or multiple cavities.

Our team of designers, toolmakers and process engineers work closely together to ensure a smooth transition from design and FMEA via mould tool manufacture to process-capable production.

Injection Moulding

Our Arburg injection moulding machines have the ability to mould most thermoplastic materials, up to a shot weight of 75 grams. Assembly operations such as inserting, printing and over-moulds, together with other assembly processes, can also be carried out within the moulding department.

Harwin Stamping Capabilities

Stamping

To support a growing demand for precision metal stampings, Harwin has substantially enhanced the capacity of its stamping facilities by investing in high-speed Bruderer presses.

Highly trained Press setter/operators regularly inspect both production parts and tools and liaise regularly with toolmakers and design engineers to ensure the complete production cell operates to the best possible efficiency.

Press Machinery at Harwin:

  • 18 tonne - max speed 1000 strokes per minute
  • 25 tonne - max speed 1400 strokes per minute
  • 20 tonne - max speed 2000 strokes per minute with PC-based 'B' control
Harwin Turning Capabilities

Turning

Since its formation more than 50 years ago, Harwin has specialized in the manufacture of precision turned parts for the electronics industry and has a wealth of experience in this area.

Harwin employs the latest CNC technology to produce highly complex components in a single operation. We have the capacity to manufacture turned parts of diameters between 0.5mm and 20mm, and up to 300mm in length, in a variety of materials including: stainless steel, aluminium, brass, mild steel, plastic, titanium and copper.

Machinery includes:

  • 5 x Star SB-16
  • 2 x Star SB-16E
  • 4 x Star SR105
  • 1 x Star SR20R11
Harwin Electroplating Capabilities

Electroplating

In line with the company's policy of vertical integration, Harwin has designed and built several high speed plating lines. This highly efficient plating facility is an integral part of the company's manufacturing unit. In order to keep pace with increased production a substantial investment in the plating process has taken place over the last few years.

Developments within the plating facility have allowed for a number of innovative techniques to be adopted to improve the selective plating process, making it possible to achieve accuracy of the plating position to 0.2mm and better. Chemical control can now be achieved by the use of X-ray fluorescence for solution analysis giving greater accuracy and faster results. Other quality assurance methods used include atomic absorption, artificial ageing and solderability testing. These methods, together with micro section facilities, ensure optimum plating conditions that guarantee your electro-plating specifications.

Harwin Tooling Capabilities

Tooling

Harwin have an unchanging belief in the total control of all the research, design and development of all tooling used within our manufacturing processes.

By manufacturing our own mould tools, press tools and assembly equipment, not only can we supply dedicated tooling for your applications at an appropriate scale, we also retain total control over project lead times and costs. All tooling is designed to run at optimised levels ensuring efficiency and reliability over the life of the product being produced.

Machinery includes:

  • Agie and Charmille wiring machines
  • Agie and Sparkatron spark erosion machines
  • Sodik E.D.M. hole drillers
